The Dwight Historical Society

The Dwight Historical Society was organized in September of 1964 to bring together those interested in Dwight’s rich history. The mission of the Dwight Historical Society is to promote and preserve the history and culture that pertains to the Dwight community, such as printed matter, photos, artists’ sketches or paintings, artifacts and buildings.

We operate the Dwight Historical Museum from the historic Chicago & Alton Railroad station, a structure listed on the National Register of Historic Places since December 27, 1982. Designed by noted Chicago architect Henry Ives Cobb and built in 1891, it’s a beautiful example of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture.

We maintain a vast archive of historical photos, artifacts, and other items beyond what’s on display in our museum, and invite anyone interested in researching the history of Dwight to visit us!
